The species is found only near the cold waters of the Humboldt Current, where the birds feed on anchovies and other small fish. It can be identified by its dark grey body, white moustache on the both sides of its head, and red-orange beak and feet. The Inca tern inhabits South America’s west coast, from Ecuador to Peru and Chile.
