Simply Automatic, Inc.
Privacy Policy

Simply Automatic, Inc. (the "company", "we", and "us") values the users of this website (the "site"). Your privacy and trust are very important to us. That is why we provide this voluntary policy statement of information management practices. This policy statement informs site visitors and users plus anyone who contacts the company via email of what kinds of identifying information we may receive or gather about them online; how that information is provided by users or collected by us online; how it may be used by us; whether that information may be disclosed; and the choices site visitors and users have regarding the company's use of, and their ability to correct, that information. By visiting, using, or emailing this site, or by using any of its services, you accept this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions or comments regarding this Privacy Policy, please contact us at [email protected].

From whom does this site receive or collect information?

This site is hosted and intended for use within the United States and U.S. territories by for-profit and non-profit entity personnel; by government entity or facility audiences; by researchers, librarians, lawyers, members of the media, and other professionals acting on their own behalf for professional purposes or on behalf of their respective employers or other organizations; by university/college personnel and students; and by business people acting on behalf of their respective employers or businesses and with respect to business activities. (Such respective employers, businesses, or other organizations shall be referred to as an "organization".) This site may receive or collect information from any of these intended visitors or users. However, this site is not intended for use by consumers, and it does not sell or offer for sale any goods or services intended for consumers. Consequently, this site should not receive or collect information from consumers.

What types of information do you provide to us, and what types does this site collect from you or track automatically?

Personal Information. We define information that allows you to be easily identified and that you provide to us when you order a subscription through this site or voluntarily send us an email as "Personal Information". Personal Information you provide when you order a subscription through this site includes your name, mailing/billing address, phone number, and an email address. Personal Information you typically provide when you send us an email includes your email address and possibly your name.

The company provides information through a subscription service, and the company may offer other services through this site including discussion forums, chat rooms, bulletin boards, message boards, or other ancillary services (collectively the "ancillary services") that may change from time to time. Together the subscription service, the information it makes available, and any available ancillary services, shall be referred to as the "services."

Users of discussion forums, chat rooms, bulletin boards, or message boards rarely, if ever, provide information that allows their true identity to be easily identified, and on this site such ancillary services will/do not automatically collect from such users or track their respective true identity, mailing/billing address, phone number, or email address. Hence, posts to ancillary services, and the use of pseudonyms while using ancillary services, neither individually nor collectively constitute or create the Personal Information defined above.

You can visit this site without informing the company of who you are. Only if you order a subscription through this site or voluntarily send us an email will you provide us with any Personal Information about yourself, such as your name and email address, through this site.

Non-Personal Information. We collect non-personal information from you, such as your browser type, the URL of the previous website you visited, your ISP, your operating system, your state, and your Internet protocol (IP) address which provides the location of your computer on the Internet ("Non-Personal Information"). Non-Personal Information may be collected electronically and automatically when you visit this site or order or use any of the services offered by this site, and it cannot be easily used to personally identify you. We also collect some aggregate Non-Personal Information from site visitors such as the numbers and frequency of visitors to the site and its pages.

Non-Received Information. We use third parties to accept and process payments made to us. When you enter a credit card number in the company's subscription order form, that information is encrypted by a third-party computer using secure socket layer technology and then sent to other third parties. Each of these third parties must individually satisfy Master Card and Visa security and protection requirements regarding your credit card information. Because these third parties accept and process your credit card payments to us, we do not receive your credit card number, expiration date, or security code when you order a subscription through this site. In addition, we never request or require social security numbers.

How and when does the company receive/collect this information?

When You Provide Information to Us. We receive Personal Information from you when you provide it to us. For example, if you purchase a subscription sold through this site, we will collect your name, mailing/billing address, telephone number, and email address. If you send us an email, we receive your email address and any other information you provide to us in your email.

Using Analytic and Reporting Technologies. Like the operators of most websites, we use analytic and reporting technologies to record Non-Personal Information electronically and automatically when you visit this site or order or use any of the services offered by this site. For example, we may use these technologies to collect your Internet domain and host names, your Internet protocol (IP) address, your type of browser software, your operating system type, your state, your clickstream patterns, and the dates and times that you access this site and any of the company's services. We also may use analytic and reporting technologies to record some aggregate Non-Personal Information from site visitors such as the numbers and frequency of visitors to the site and its pages. In addition, we may from time to time use contractors to help manage, monitor and optimize the site or the services, and to help us measure the effectiveness of advertising and communications. To do this, we may use cookies, but we do not use Flash cookies or web beacons.

A cookie is a small file placed on the hard drive of your computer. Most websites use cookies, and we use cookies to help us track your site visits and any use of the services, to allow us to provide you with a more personalized user experience, and to allow you to login and use the services when you access the site. This Privacy Policy covers only the company's use of cookies. It does not cover the use of cookies or web beacons by any third party. Also, as mentioned, we do not use Flash cookies.

Please note that if you are a subscriber, then cookies must be enabled on your computer in order for the site to enable you to access any of the services offered by this site, or to remain logged on to same.

A web beacon is an often-transparent graphic image, usually no larger than a 1x1 pixel, that is placed on a web page or in an email and that is used to monitor the behavior of the person visiting the Website or receiving the email. As mentioned, we do not use web beacons.

How does the company use your information?

Personal Information. We use Personal Information primarily for internal purposes, such as providing, maintaining, evaluating, and improving the site and the services, fulfilling your requests for information, and providing customer support. For example, your email messages to us and any identifying information in your emails, such as your name and email address, may be used in responding communications to you or in promotion-related discussions, and may be recorded by the company in files, for example, in a contact list or in a promotion contact list, and if you become a subscriber, in a customer list.

We do not sell, lease, rent, trade, or share your Personal Information for direct marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes. However, your Personal Information may be used by the company and by the company's affiliates and allies, if any, in subsequent communications with you, in promotion announcements, and in normal notifications or announcements to you such as office relocation notices, telephone number change notices, or company announcements of new affiliations or alliances. If you take advantage of a promotion, your Personal Information may also be used in related questions, discussions, and services.

Non-Personal Information. We use Non-Personal Information to track access data for the site, the services, and for other internal purposes, such as providing, maintaining, evaluating, and improving the site and services. For example, your IP address, which signifies the location of your computer on the Internet, and data regarding the state where you are located, may be used for systems administration, statistical analysis, or troubleshooting purposes.

An example of the ways we use statistical analysis on Non-Personal Information occurs when we collect aggregate data about the number and frequency of visitors to the site and each of its pages in order to allow statistical or trend analyses and a determination of overall interest in the various pages of this site. This aggregate Non-Personal Information thereby helps the company determine how much each part of the site is visited, and that information is used to improve the site and assure that it remains as appealing as possible.

With whom does the company share your information?

Disclosure of Personal Information to Unaffiliated Third Parties. We may disclose your Personal Information to prevent an emergency, to prevent harm to others, to respond to legal requirements, to protect or enforce the company's rights and policies, to protect or enforce the rights of a third party, or as required or permitted by judicial decisions (including, without limitation, to comply with a subpoena or court order).

Disclosure of Personal Information to Third-Party Service Providers. As mentioned above, your Personal Information will not be sold, leased, rented, or traded to, or shared with, anyone for direct marketing, advertising or promotional purposes. For example, if you send us an email, we will not sell, lease, rent, or trade your email address to a third party, or otherwise share it with a third party, either within a contact list or otherwise, for purposes of direct marketing, advertising, or promotion by that third party. Further, if you become a subscription customer, we will not sell, lease, rent, or trade your Personal Information to a third party, or otherwise share it with a third party, either within a customer list or otherwise, for purposes of direct marketing, advertising, or promotion by that third party.

However, your Personal Information, and the company's contact lists and customer lists, if we assemble any such lists, may be shared with the company's contractors, affiliates and allies. We may contract with various third parties to help us provide and maintain the site and sell the subscription service. For example, we use third parties to process credit card payments that our customers make to us. We also contract with third parties to help manage, monitor and optimize the site and our subscription service, and to help us measure the effectiveness of advertising and communications. Some of these third parties may receive your Personal Information. If that happens, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to prevent such third parties from disclosing your Personal Information except for the purpose of providing the services for which we contracted. We cannot guarantee that such third parties will not disclose your Personal Information.

Disclosure of Non-Personal Information. We may disclose Non-Personal Information, in aggregate form to contractors, affiliates, and allies; and to potential strategic partners, advertisers, investors, and others. You may not opt-out of the sharing of this aggregated information. However, it cannot be easily used to identify you personally. For example, aggregated statistical "ratings" information about how site visitors, collectively, visit this site and its pages may be shared with the company's site administrators, consultants, contractors, or affiliates so that they may suggest changes to this site that may help us provide you with the best possible Web experience.

Does Simply Automatic protect your Personal Information?

We follow generally accepted industry standards in the United States to protect the Personal Information submitted to us. For example, whenever we receive your Personal Information from you, we use commercially reasonable efforts to protect it from unauthorized access or disclosure. However, we are not insurers of the security of your Personal Information, and no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Accordingly, we assume no liability for any disclosure of data due to errors in transmission, unauthorized third-party access through criminal hacking, other acts of third parties, or acts or omissions beyond the company's reasonable control. In general, we are not responsible for technology malfunctions, for your actions, or for the actions of others, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your Personal Information.

In addition, please understand that this Privacy Policy applies only to this site. You may be able to access third-party websites or materials directly from this site, but this Privacy Policy does not apply when you access such websites from links on this site. Further, we cannot control how third parties may use information you disclose to them, so you should carefully review the privacy policy of any third-party website you visit before using it or disclosing your identifying information to its provider.

How can you review and make changes to your Personal Information?

You may obtain a copy of your Personal Information by emailing us at us at [email protected]. For your protection, you will be required to provide proof of your identity to obtain a copy of your Personal Information. Upon receiving satisfactory evidence of your identity, we will convey your Personal Information to you via a return email, but not via U.S. mail. There is no charge for such a return email report of your Personal Information on file.

Information received from you or collected automatically may be retained as long as it is reasonably required for the purposes for which it was collected. However, if you are a subscriber and your Personal Information contains errors or requires changes, you may correct or update your Personal Information through the site's account management page. Please note, however, that in order for a subscriber to deactivate his or her user name and password, he or she must first terminate his or her account. If you would like to terminate your account, which will terminate your access to and use of all services without refund, you must contact [email protected].

Can you Opt-Out from receiving communications from Simply Automatic?

We provide you with the opportunity to opt-out of having your Personal Information used for certain purposes. For example, if you do not wish to receive any additional marketing material or newsletters from us, you may opt-out of receiving them by indicating your preference on the site's account management page or on an unsubscribe page linked in the email received. If you need assistance, you may contact us at [email protected].

If you do not have an account because you never became a subscriber, and if you do not wish to receive any additional marketing material or newsletters from us, you may opt-out of receiving them through an unsubscribe page linked in the email received.

Does Simply Automatic protect referrals?

If we establish a referral capability on the site and you choose to use this referral capability to tell a friend about the company's subscription service, we will ask you for your friend's name and email address. Then we will send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site. We will store your friend's name and email address in order to send the one-time email and track the success of the referral program, and the name and email address will be protected as though we had received them directly from your friend as his or her Personal Information. Of course, if your friend subsequently communicates with us or becomes a subscriber, we will receive identifying information from him or her and it shall be directly subject to this Privacy Policy. By providing your friend's name and email address you represent to us that you have your friend's permission for us to contact him or her by email.

Forums and other interactive services

This site may include discussion forums or other interactive areas or services, including blogs, chat rooms, bulletin boards, message boards, online hosting services, or other areas or services in which you or third parties create, post or record personal data, messages, comments, or other content or items on the site ("Interactive Area(s)"). If you use an Interactive Area, you should be aware that these areas are either open to the public, or to subscribers, and that your user name and any identifying information you state in a public profile or otherwise post may be viewable by others. We may monitor, but we are not responsible for monitoring, information you submit in connection with any Interactive Area, nor are we responsible for how others might use that information, including, for example, to send you unsolicited messages. Interactive Area postings may be retained indefinitely. If at any time you would like to remove a posting you created, please email us at [email protected]. Keep in mind that removal of a posting from an Interactive Area does not mean that the posting will be deleted from the company's systems.

Are there any other exemptions from this Privacy Policy?

For five or more simultaneous users of the subscription service the company offers written subscription contracts, and users under those contracts may or may not be subject to this Privacy Policy in part or whole according to the terms of the parties' written contract. Please contact [email protected] to inquire about the availability of a written subscription agreement.

Does Simply Automatic ever make changes to its Privacy Policy?

We may make changes to the Privacy Policy from time to time. Any such changes will be posted on this page so that you will always know the company's information management policies and practices. Changes made to this Privacy Policy are effective immediately unless otherwise stated.
